Finance and Accounting Recruiter in Janesville

Call Marc McRoberts: 262-893-1523 | marc@mdmrecruitingllc.com

You have a finance seat open and it is costing you every week it stays that way. The close runs late. Reports slip. You are covering work that belongs to someone you have not hired yet. And the last thing you need is another contingency agency dumping twenty resumes on you, none of which fit.

I do one thing. I place finance and accounting professionals at small and mid-size companies in the Janesville area, and I have done it for 15 years. I am Marc McRoberts. I run MDM Recruiting. When you call me about a controller opening in Janesville or an accounting manager search down in Beloit, you get one person who knows the finance talent in Rock County and brings you a short list worth your time.

The roles I fill

I recruit for the people who own your numbers, from the leadership seat down to the close:

Whether you need a CFO who can sit at the leadership table and talk to your board, or a senior accountant who can carry month-end without hand-holding, I have filled that seat before at a company that looks like yours.

Built for the Janesville and Rock County economy

Janesville rebuilt itself after the assembly plant closed, and the economy that grew back is more varied than the one it replaced. Distribution and logistics run large here, anchored by the Dollar General distribution center. Food processing has a long footprint through operations like Seneca Foods, and healthcare has become one of the area’s biggest employers through Mercyhealth. On top of that sits a base of advanced manufacturing and technology, including SHINE Technologies, alongside the retail and distribution work that Blain’s Farm & Fleet is known for. A few miles south, Beloit adds building-products distribution, defense manufacturing, and food ingredients to the same labor market.

That mix is exactly the finance talent I know best. A distribution center that needs a controller who can manage labor, freight, and inventory at volume. A food processor that needs a cost accountant who understands yield, spoilage, and standard costing. A healthcare or technology employer that needs an FP&A analyst who can build a forecast people actually trust. Most of my searches are for companies with 50 to 200 employees, where the controller wears four hats and the next hire has to be right the first time because there is no bench.

Fifteen years in one lane

I am not a generalist who fills a finance role one week and a sales role the next. Finance and accounting is the only thing I recruit for, and I have spent 15 years building a network of controllers, analysts, and finance leaders across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. That is the difference between a recruiter who has to go learn your role and one who already knows the few people in this market who could actually do it.

It also means I can tell the difference between a candidate who looks good on paper and one who will survive your close, your systems, and your leadership team. I have interviewed enough accountants to know which questions separate the two. That judgment is what you are hiring me for.

What working with me is actually like

You get one point of contact: me. I do the intake call, the sourcing, the screening, and the reference work myself. Nothing gets handed to a junior recruiter who has never filled a finance role. Before I send you anyone, I have talked to them about your company, your systems, and the specific problem you are trying to solve, so the people you interview already know why the seat is open and want it.

I would rather send you three people who fit than thirty who do not. Volume is easy. A short list you can trust is the hard part, and it is the only part that saves you time.

The kind of hire this matters for

A wrong finance hire is expensive in a way most hires are not. A controller who cannot close, a CFO who cannot forecast, an analyst who cannot be trusted with the model — you feel those mistakes in your numbers, your board meetings, and your own workload. That is why it is worth spending twenty minutes with someone who fills these roles for a living before you post the job and hope.

Have an open finance role? Let’s talk about it.

Tell me about one seat you are trying to fill — the role, the company, and what is making it hard. No pitch, no long process. Just a short call about whether I can help fill it faster than you can on your own.
